“They [are] doing this for money … also to destroy me!!” – Gervonta Davis in an Instagram post defending himself after being arrested for domestic violence.

Gervonta “Tank” Davis was released on bond this morning, posting his version of events to his Instagram. He denies any wrongdoing, saying “I never put my hands on [my child’s mother, the alleged victim].” Davis’s embroiled post also claims that the incident had more to do with money than any alleged violence – including his past domestic violence charges. The posts have since been deleted.

Davis states that “they” offered the alleged victim $50,000 to press charges, although he never specified who he meant by “they.” He claims similar offers were made to his ex-girlfriend, whom he also has a child with, but that she refused. According to Davis, another woman who is “known for [suing] people” took them up on their offer, and he now has to pay her $300k despite his claims that he “never [laid] a finger on her or even know what this lady looks like!”

He ended his rant by excoriating the media. “Y’all [are] bad for the culture!! Y’all don’t care if [it’s] true or false … y’all just want to put it out there [because it’s] beneficial to [your] businesses!”

The posts were not left on his page very long. It remains unclear whether charges are being pressed by the victim or the local district attorney, or if this incident will impact his upcoming bout against Hector Luis Garcia on January 7th.
