Jake Paul and Anderson Silva’s return to boxing is only slightly more than a month away - and they're going to war against each other. Paul hasn’t competed in the squared circle since knocking out Tyron Woodley last December after his scheduled bout with Hasim Rahman Jr. fell through because of a discrepancy over the agreed fight weight.
Paul has his next opponent - another UFC legend - Anderson “the Spider” Silva. Silva retired from MMA in 2020, but joined the boxing world with great success. He beat former champion Julio Chavez Jr. as well as knocking out Tito Ortiz in pro bouts, most recently picking apart Bruno Machado in a boxing exhibition back in May of this year.
Today’s press conference - where Jake’s older brother and fellow boxer Logan was in attendance - wasn’t the first time the Pauls met the Spider. They re-created a photo they took with the greatest UFC middleweight 13 years ago - coming full circle.
Many believe this will be Paul’s toughest test to date, as Silva has looked as sharp as ever in his boxing bouts despite being 47-years-old. Paul was respectful to his opponent, acknowledging Silva’s greatness in the world of combat sports - but predicted a knockout…respectfully.
Despite Paul being the underdog for the first time in his boxing career, Anderson Silva understands the challenges he will present inside the ring. Silva has more than enough combat sports experience to know that underestimating your opponent can be a fatal flaw - and understands that defeating Jake Paul in boxing will be no easy feat.
Do you agree with this being Jake Paul’s toughest fight to date? Or will he fulfill his promise to respectfully knock out the UFC legend?
