Legendary Heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson once said, “Social media made you all way too comfortable with disrespecting people and not getting punched in the face for it.” The Diaz Brothers couldn’t agree more, serving up slaps for all the geeks who talk smack online. Everyone remembers this classic exchange with Ariel Helwani:
The most recent serving of a Stockton slap came backstage at UFC 276, when a Full Send Podcast reporter approached Nate Diaz with some questions. The pride of 209 responded to a question about Sean O’Malley by saying ““Nah. And you better watch your tweets about my dude who was fighting recently.”
Nate wasn’t having it, smacking the mic out of the reporter’s hand and following it up with a Stockton slap to the dome. Word to the wise, if you’re going to talk smack about Nate’s teammates and friends, don’t go fishing for interviews.
Nate Diaz has been campaigning for a huge fight for the final bout on his UFC contract, expressing desires to explore other avenues, including a potential stint in boxing. However, it seems the UFC isn’t too keen on offering him the fights he asks for, bringing the Diaz train to a standstill.
Names surrounding Nate include the Conor McGregor trilogy, a showdown with Dustin Poirier, and a matchup with Khamzat Chimaev. Even Jake Paul threw himself into the mix, offering to fight Nate in MMA for free if Dana White provided significant pay raises and health insurance for UFC fighters.
Diaz told Ariel Helwani his preference for his last fight, stating "I would like to fight Dustin Poirier. Like now. Like I've been trying to. If there's any mix-up it's him, and them, and the game.” He continued "I want the fight now. What's up Dana White? Let's get this retirement fight cracking so I can get out of this fight game. I'm done with it."
Nate Diaz is one of the UFC’s biggest stars and deserves to go out on his terms. Give the man what he deserves!
