Georges St-Pierre Praises the Hell out of Nate Diaz, But Will They Box Each Other??
Georges St-Pierre may be a god amongst men when he walks into a room full of fighters, but even a legendary combat sports icon like Georges knows how to show respect when there’s a fellow UFC legend in the room with him, especially when that star is none other than Nate f***ing Diaz.
The retired UFC champion was in town for the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight, where he was MC’ing the ceremonial weigh-ins for the event, when Inside Fighting’s Andrew Capucetti had to ask Georges what it was like chopping it up with Nate backstage.
Georges, who at first was catching up with fellow retired UFC star Uriah Hall, didn’t hesitate to heap praise on Diaz, by telling us how much he admires Nate for going to the beat of his own drum in a tough business, as well as wishing Nate the best of luck in whatever comes next for him, which everyone assumes will be in the realm of the boxing ring.
“Yeah, I admire him, because he stood up for what he believes is right, and not a lot of guys does that… Hopefully he makes some good money, and he comes out healthy and wealthy.”
Being that Nate is dipping his toes into boxing, we had to ask Georges if there was a chance that he would ever consider being Nate’s first opponent in a non-MMA fight, and Georges answer was somewhat disappointing but also understandable.
“No, I don’t miss fighting at all. I made peace with it. I retired on top. I love to train. I love the lifestyle. But I’m done competing.”
Side note, we asked Georges to give his pick on the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight, but he was unwilling since he was working with the promotion.
As for Nate and how he feels about where he stands personally, all you need to do is watch the first 5 seconds of this video, where Nate yells to someone offscreen, “I’m still here motherf***er!”
Something tells us Nate is not done competing.
