Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland’s Beef Explained by Holland’s Striking Coach Ahead of UFC 287
Kevin Holland isn’t called “Big Mouth” by Dana White for nothing. Holland found himself in another backstage scuffle – this time with Jorge Masvidal. Holland’s striking coach and former kickboxing champion Durwyn Lamb explained the beef to Inside Fighting’s Andrew Capucetti.
“Kevin [Holland] kind of liked [Jorge] Masvidal,” Lamb explained when asked what happened between the two UFC fighters. “[Holland] didn’t like the sucker punch deal with Leon [Edwards], he didn’t like the stuff with Colby Covington … it kind of rubbed him the wrong way and kind of changed his view of [Jorge Masvidal].”
Lamb explained that Holland felt that Masvidal had turned into a bully – something that “didn’t sit right in his spirit.” However, he’s not sure whether the beef is hot enough for things to be ‘on sight’.
“Maybe, maybe not,” Lamb stated. “It’s not as deep as people think … it could be like, ‘I don’t hate you, but I don’t like the way you move.'”
Perhaps Dana White was having flashbacks to Holland’s altercation with Khamzat Chimaev – which culminated in the two fighting at UFC 279 after Khamzat missed weight for his bout against Nate Diaz.
