Michael Chandler Calls Colby Covington’s UFC 296 Performance a Disgrace to America (video)
Donald Trump may be Colby Covington’s idol – but the former President’s presence at UFC 296 wasn’t enough to inspire “Chaos” to a convincing win.
Quite the contrary – his performance was so lackluster that UFC lightweight Michael Chandler thinks he let the entire nation down.
Chandler spoke exclusively with Inside Fighting’s Andrew Capucetti behind the scenes at UFC 296, sharing his assessment of what went wrong for the controversial welterweight.
Michael Chandler Clowns Colby Covington for UFC 296 Performance
“Colby took 1776 shots to the face and had zero offense,” Chandler stated. “If Colby’s offense was an accurate depiction of the U.S. military, we never would have gotten our independence [and] lost World War I and lost World War II.”
It’s safe to say – Chandler was none too impressed.
“One-hundred percent [he let down Trump],” Chandler continued. “[Covington’s performance] was worse than weak.”
The showing was so bad that Chandler wouldn’t even want to challenge Covington at 170 if the fight presented itself. Damn.
“Not after that performance,” Chandler exclaimed. “Colby should be fighting on the prelims!”
Damn. For a nice guy, Chandler sure didn’t pull his punches when it came to Covington’s UFC 296 showing.
