Mikey Garcia thinks Jake Paul is in for a rough night against Nate Diaz. Garcia spoke with Inside Fighting’s Andrew Capucetti, sharing his insights on how Diaz looks as well as his pick for the fight.

“I was surprised and impressed at the same time,” Garcia said of Diaz after watching him spar with undefeated boxer Esquiva Falcao. “[Diaz] just finished twelve rounds with Falcao, who’s a number-one contender fighting for a title in three weeks. So, that’s impressive!”

Garcia’s one of the few boxers to hold world titles across four different weight classes – rest assured, if the man is impressed with your boxing skills, you’ve got dangerous hands. That’s great news for the younger of the Diaz brothers, but bad news for the younger of the Paul brothers.

“[Jake Paul] is in trouble, for sure,” Garcia continued. “He’s fighting a real fighter. He’s not fighting someone that’s a ‘wannabe’ fighter or former basketball player … [Diaz is] a fighter, he’s active. [Paul] is in trouble, for sure!”

Based off what he saw in the gym, it’s no wonder why Garcia is picking Nate Diaz over Jake Paul. “Nate’s got a better chance,” Garcia stated. “[Diaz] has been in there with the best … he’s in the most decent shape than anybody else so far in front of his fight. He’s got eight weeks left and he’s already doing twelve rounds … he’s only going to improve from this point forward.”

Garcia plans on attending the Diaz vs Paul event, which goes down on August 5th from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
