ANTHONY PETTIS PRAISES JAKE PAUL PFL SIGNING, WANTS TO FIGHT HIM IN MMA OR BOXING
Anthony Pettis is a fan of what Jake Paul – and would love to introduce him to the PFL in an MMA or boxing fight.
Ever since Jake Paul signed with the PFL, the question on everyone’s mind has been – who will he fight in MMA? Well, who better than the PFL’s biggest star, MMA legend Anthony Pettis. “Showtime” is a fan of what Jake Paul brings to the table – and would love to introduce Jake Paul to the PFL in an MMA bout.
Jake Paul proposed a two fight deal with Nate Diaz – one in boxing and one in MMA – and that’s exactly the setup that “Showtime” is game for.
“Hell yes. Yes bro, yes,” Pettis replied if he’d like to fight Paul in both boxing and MMA. “I would love to box and do MMA. Officially, I would definitely box before my career is over. I’ve still got some stuff I want to do in MMA, but I will box before my career is over.”
Pettis – a former UFC and WEC champion – would be a heavy favorite in MMA. But “Showtime” believes he’d have the advantage in boxing against Jake Paul as well.
“I’ve been boxing professional boxers way back when I was a champion in 2015,” Pettis explained. “I’m not talking sh*t, but guys like Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, they come from a wrestling background where their transition to boxing is brand new.”
“Showtime” still has the fire that defined his reign as UFC lightweight champion, saying that he would be “looking for the knockout” in a boxing match against Paul. Still, Pettis is a fan of Jake and what he’s doing, praising the newly-signed PFL fighter’s boxing ability.
“Jake Paul’s boxing skills [are] good, bro,” Pettis stated. “He’s definitely got boxing skills. But I, for sure, have way more years of boxing sparring against real pros than he does.”
That’s no disrespect from “Showtime” – he’s excited for the Jake Paul era of the PFL. “I’m a supporter too, bro,” Pettis explained. “There’s no hate over here. I’m a supporter … But I’m ready in the PFL, I’m the biggest name they got over there. We definitely would sell … I’m looking forward too it.”
A showdown with “Showtime” would certainly do big numbers, whether it’s in MMA or boxing. The only question now is…does Jake take Anthony up on the offer?
