Ciryl Gane SMOKES Sergey Spivak at UFC Paris
Ciryl Gane finishes Sergey Spivak via TKO at UFC Paris
“Bon Gamin” is back on top of his game. Ciryl Gane put on a masterclass performance in front of the French crowd at the Accor Arena in the main event of UFC Paris, picking apart Spivak and finishing him in the second round.

After a lackluster showing for Gane at UFC 285, it was important for the French heavyweight to right the ship against a grappling-oriented opponent like Spivak. Not only did Gane not get taken down – he dominated the action, never feeling the threat of Spivak’s ground game. To put things in perspective, Gane outstruck his opponent for the 2nd highest differential in UFC history – 109 to 11.

It was exactly the kind of bounce-back performance that Gane needed, who still finds himself comfortably at the top of the heavyweight division. “Bon Gamin” represents France’s best chance for a male UFC champion, and it seems like he’s back on track and better than ever after losing to Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones.

The question now is: what’s next for Ciryl Gane? Jon Jones is set to defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 292 on November 11, with Sergei Pavlovich serving as the backup. Gane hasn’t fought anyone in the top 5, and with Blaydes coming off a loss to Pavlovich, there’s one name that makes a lot of sense.
Tom Aspinall.
Aspinall made quick work of Marcin Tybura at UFC London in July – setting up one of the most exciting fights between two “next-generation” heavyweights. Gane vs. Aspinall is a certified banger and as technical as it gets at heavyweight.
However, if Pavlovich is not needed to fill in at UFC 292, an equally fascinating matchup is pitting the Russian against “Bon Gamin.” While Gane’s stiking is next-level (especially for a heavyweight), Pavlovich has bombs in his hands. It’s safe to say that if that fight comes to fruition, it doesn’t go the distance.
