Canelo Alvarez defeats Jermell Charlo via unanimous decision

Canelo Alvarez set out to prove that he’s the best. Tonight, he added another convincing W to his ledger, building his case for the greatest Mexican boxer of all time.

Alvarez picked apart Jermell Charlo from start to finish – finding a home for his left hook to the body the entire night. The power difference was clear early on – with Charlo challenging himself by moving up 14 pounds to super middleweight. In fact, Canelo forced Charlo to take a knee in round 7 with a crushing right hand.

With his win, Canelo adds another defense to his undisputed super middleweight title reign. It’s now his third win in a row and his 4th win overall with the united titles. There were some doubts as to whether Canelo might be slowing down after losing to Dmitry Bivol in a light heavyweight fight back in May, 2022 – but Avlarez shut the doubters up tonight with a masterclass performance.

The question now is … what’s next for Canelo?
