Ilia Topuria made a statement tonight at UFC Jacksonville – putting on a devastating masterclass against Josh Emmett. While it was a one-sided affair, Emmett can keep his chin up – the man proved that he’s one of the toughest fighters in the UFC, refusing to be put away despite Topuria’s relentless onslaught.

It was tightly contested through the first two rounds – but as the fight progressed, Topuria began to pour it on. Still, Josh Emmett bit down on his mouthpiece and never gave up on himself, resulting in a 5-round barnburner that was intense from start to finish.
In the end, Topuria took a convincing decision – including the very rare scorecard of 50-42. Utterly dominant.

Topuria improved his record to a perfect 14-0 – positioning himself to take on the winner of Yair Rodriguez vs Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC featherweight title. The man has earned his shot.

It’s a tough loss for Emmett, who showed that he can still hang with the best of them at featherweight despite being 38 years old. He may not have gotten the victory, but fans and fighters alike were incredibly impressed with his toughness and determination to win.
