PHIL BARONI ARRESTED FOR HOMICIDE IN SAN PANCHO, MEXICO
MMA legend Phil Baroni was apprehended by Mexican authorities after allegedly killing his girlfriend in their San Pancho hotel room.
Phil Baroni called emergency services to his hotel room in the Mexican vacation town of San Pancho, telling authorities that his girlfriend was unresponsive. When police arrived, they found Baroni’s girlfriend – identified only as Paola, a resident of Mexico City – lying under a sheet with bruising on her face and body. According to reports from Tribuna de la Bahia, she didn’t have a pulse and wasn’t breathing when authorities arrived.
Baroni’s statements to police paint a grim picture. He told the arriving officers that he threw his girlfriend into the shower after she revealed she had slept with another man – causing her to hit her head multiple times.
Baroni claims he attempted to help his girlfriend by placing her on the hotel bed, removing her clothes, and covering her with a sheet. The former UFC and PRIDE fighter claims his girlfriend requested beer and cigarettes, and after he went to get them for her, she wasn’t breathing upon his return.
Baroni was arrested on charges of homicide and is currently jailed at the Municipal Administrative Court of Valle de Banderas. Forensic investigators are now analyzing the crime scene and performing an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
