Teofimo Lopez defeats Josh Taylor in dominant performance to claim WBO junior welterweight title.

Teofimo Lopez came into his fight against Josh Taylor as an underdog – but he proved why Vegas got this one very, very wrong.

Lopez handed Taylor his first loss in boxing, giving the Scottish boxer the business from the first bell to the last.

There were some doubters who believed Lopez was a flash-in-the-pan fighter who would fizzle out after getting a shocking upset over Vasily Lomachenko in 2020. Lopez proved the doubters wrong, finding a home for heavy right hands throughout the fight.

With the dominant performance, Lopez added the WBO junior welterweight title to his ledger of belts. Now establishing himself as the real deal, Lopez opened the door to a number of potential megafights, including a showdown with boxing superstar Ryan Garcia.
