UFC 283 CHAMPIONSHIP BOUTS OFFICIAL, TEXEIRA, HILL, MORENO, FIGUEIREDO MAKE WEIGHT
The main and co-main events of UFC 283 are set as all fighters make championship weight.
There were no hiccups during the weigh-ins for the fighters competing for UFC gold – the main and co-main events for UFC 283 are official.
UFC flyweight interim champion Brandon Moreno was the first to step on the scales at weigh-ins.
Deiveson Figueiredo followed shortly thereafter. His team has stated that this was his easiest weight-cut ever, only needing to cut 8 pounds coming into the week. This will be his fourth fight with Moreno, and his first title defense since winning the belt back at UFC 270.
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Texeira looks to reclaim his belt after losing his all out war with Jiri Prochazka back at UFC 275. It was a back-and-forth fight for the ages that Glover was winning on the scorecards before getting choked out in the fifth. He gets a chance to become light heavyweight champion for the second time in front of his home crowd in Brazil.
The last of the championship fighters to step on the scale was Jamahal Hill. The opportunity of a lifetime arose for Hill after Magomed Ankalaev vs. Jan Blachowicz ended in a draw at UFC 282. Hill stated the UFC called him almost immediately after Bruce Buffer announced the draw, offering him a championship bout against Glover Teixeira in Rio de Janeiro.
