UFC 291: Poirier vs. Gaethje 2 Results and Highlights

The BMF Belt is on the line tonight in Salt Lake City, Utah, for UFC 291: Poirier vs. Gaethje 2.

The main event features the rematch between Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje, with the winner slated to be crowned the UFC’s second “BMF,” with the first winner, Jorge Masvidal, in attendance to place the strap around the winner.

Poirier and Gaethje fought back in 2018, with Poirier winning via TKO in the 4th round. A lot has changed since then, but Poirier and Gaethje have been on similar paths. Both men lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov and Charles Oliveira via submission in title fights, but each man can put himself back into title talks with a win tonight.

The co-main event features a light heavyweight title eliminator. Alex Pereira makes his 205 lbs debut against former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz, with the winner expected to fight for the vacant title later in the year.

Stephen Thompson vs. Michel Pereira was originally scheduled for the main card, but after Pereira missed weight by 3 lbs, Derrick Lewis vs. Marcos Rogerio de Lima was bumped up. Also on the main card is a showdown between lightweight legends Tony Ferguson and Bobby Green, as well as a welterweight barnburner between Michael Chiesa and Kevin Holland.

The early prelims are slated to begin at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT, with the prelims kicking off at 8 PM ET/5 PM PT and the main card scheduled for 10 PM ET/7 PM PT.
