Nate Diaz went from 185 pounds to 171 pounds in one day — like a total pro — unlike his former opponent, Khamzat Chimaev.

Nate Diaz weighs 185.2 pounds on Thursday, September 8th, 2 days before UFC 279.

Inside Fighting obtained this photo showing Nate hitting the scale on Thursday, showing 185.2 pounds.

While the number may be concerning to people outside the combat sports world, Nate wasn’t worried at all — and felt he was right on schedule to drop the weight in time for the weigh-in on Friday morning.

As you probably know by now, Khamzat was unable to hit the required weight for the welterweight fight at UFC 279, leaving the UFC scrambling to figure out a way to save the card.

At the end of the day, Dana White announced Nate’s opponent will no longer be Khamzat — instead Diaz will take on fellow OG Tony Ferguson, who also made weight Friday morning in anticipation of his scheduled fight against Li Jingliang.

Khamzat will remain on the card, facing Kevin Holland in the co-main event at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

As for Li Jingliang, he’s now scheduled to fight Daniel Rodriguez, in a fight that’s expected to be a banger. For the record, both of those fighters made weight as well.
